The Pigeon Problem in Chennai
Why Pigeons Damage Every Chennai Balcony
Chennai's warm climate, tall apartment blocks and open balconies are perfect pigeon habitats. Once they nest, the damage compounds fast — here's exactly what pigeons do to your home.
Acidic droppings
Pigeon droppings contain uric acid that corrodes AC condensers, iron railings and painted walls within months.
Health hazards
Droppings carry histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis and E. coli — dangerous for children, elderly and pets.
Nesting damage
Nests block AC drainage, water outlets and duct openings, causing leaks and short circuits.
Noise & feathers
Cooing at 5 AM, feathers in your utensils, mites migrating indoors — pigeons ruin daily life.
Pigeon Net Installation for Every Chennai Home Type
Ten years installing pigeon nets across Chennai — from 400 sq ft 1BHKs in T. Nagar to 4,000 sq ft sea-facing OMR penthouses.
Apartment Balconies
Standard 4×8 to 6×12 ft balcony openings — the most common installation across Anna Nagar, Velachery, OMR and Adyar apartments.
Sit-out & Utility Areas
Small utility balconies where washing machines and AC outdoor units live. Pigeon droppings on AC coils are the #1 reason units fail early.
French Windows & Bay Windows
Custom-cut nets for full-height French windows and bay windows in modern Chennai apartments — Casagrand, Alliance, Prestige projects.
Duct & Shaft Openings
The air-shafts between towers are pigeon highways. We net both ends to stop nesting inside the shaft.
Independent House Terraces
Full terrace pigeon proofing for independent houses in Mylapore, T. Nagar, Kolathur and Ambattur — hooks anchored to parapet only, no wall damage.
AC Outdoor Unit Enclosures
Targeted small-mesh nets around outdoor AC units — protects the fan and coils without blocking airflow.
The Pigeon Net We Actually Install
- Net: Imported HDPE monofilament, 1.5 mm thickness, 50 mm mesh — sized specifically for pigeons (crows can't squeeze through either).
- UV rating: IS 15315-stabilized. Retains >90% tensile strength after 5 years in Chennai's sun + salt air.
- Anchors: 316-grade stainless steel eye-hooks — the only grade that won't rust into the wall in Chennai's coastal climate.
- Border rope: 6 mm braided polyester, hand-stitched into the mesh so it can't fray at load points.
- Colours: Transparent (default), black or green. Transparent is near-invisible from 3 m away — society-approval friendly.
- Fire-retardant option: Available for kitchen-adjacent balconies and commercial installs.
How We Install (Same Day, No Wall Damage)
- Free site visit — precise measurement, obstruction check, colour sample match.
- Written quote — ₹/sq ft × area + hook count. No hidden charges, no minimum.
- Old droppings cleanup — we scrub the area with diluted vinegar before installation (dry sweeping is hazardous).
- Hook fitting — 6 mm SS hooks drilled 300–400 mm apart, holes sealed with weather-proof putty. Zero paint damage.
- Net stretching — border rope tensioned, mesh wrinkle-free, edges hand-stitched to the frame.
- Load test + walkthrough — every hook load-tested; free re-tensioning after first monsoon.
- Warranty card — 3–5 year material + workmanship warranty on pigeon nets, printed and signed on the spot.
